The 2009 Walk A Day in Our Shoes Campaign

This fall there will be municipal elections taking place across the state.

The outcome of these elections often has a direct impact upon the working lives of our members.

Too often we see politicians running for local office who seem to oppose the very idea of government itself.  They bemoan the public services we provide and belittle our members.

When in fact they know very little about our lives, our work or the public we serve.

It is time to educate these would be local leaders and hold them to account.
This fall SEIU 888 will focusing significant efforts to elect the best local and municipal leaders in targeted campaigns across the state.

In each targeted campaign we will be asking all the candidates to Walk a Day in Our Shoes as part of our endorsement process.

We need Union Activists, Leaders and Stewards to identify members who would make good instructors for these politicians by teaching them about the importance of the services we provide and sharing their ideas on how to improve those services.

We need also to identify any SEIU 888 members who are seeking office or thinking about it.
If you are interested in getting involved, have any ideas about good candidates for office or races that important or know another member who is, please contact us as soon as possible by using the form below or contacting us directly at politics(at)seiu888.org or 617.241.3300
