National Night Out Announcement from the Chelsea Chief of Police:Dear Chelsea Community Stakeholder:
I would like to take this opportunity to personally extend an invitation to you and the members of your organization to join forces with the members of the Chelsea Police Department on Tuesday, August 5th at Washington Park and be part of our team for the Annual "National Night Out" Celebration from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
Last year's National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 34 million people participated in National Night Out 2007.
"National Night Out" is a unique nationwide crime and drug prevention event designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
- Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
If you are interested in taking part in this exciting community event please contact Captain Ed Martin of the Chelsea Police Department Community Services Division at (617) 466-4834.
We look forward to working with you in making this a successful and exciting evening for all of our residents, business leaders, local officials, clergy and general community stakeholders.
