The City of Boston-SEIU Local 888 Housing Trust will provide members with up to a maximum of $5,000 to pay for home improvement related expenses. The Home Improvement funds will be in the form of a 0% interest loan up to a maximum of $5,000.

Home Improvement Application:
I. Explanation of Benefit

This benefit is designed to pay for housing related home improvements, which may include but are not limited to: kitchen updates, bathroom updates, flooring, masonry, carpentry, painting, windows (repair or replace), electrical work, plumbing, roofing, HVAC repair, replacement of boilers/furnaces/radiators, fencing and tree removal. Items not included on the above list will be considered on a case by case basis. Items determined to be “luxury” in nature will not be approved.  Documentation of the housing related home improvements will be required at the time of the application and may include repair estimates, work proposals and/or invoices.

Any applicant who submits an estimate as the basis of requesting a Home Improvement loan will be required to submit proof of payment upon completion of the home improvement outlined in the Application.  Failure to submit proof of payment prohibits the applicant from receiving any future benefits from the Housing Trust, until such time as the proof of payment has been submitted.

If the submitted estimate includes proof of a down payment, then upon completion of the home improvement, the member must submit proof that the difference between the down payment and total amount owed has been paid.  Failure to do so will result in the member being ineligible to receive any future benefit from the Housing Trust until such time time as the proof of payment for the difference between the down payment and total amount has been submitted.
