Election Day Results: Great News Across the Board!

Election Day was a good day for SEIU 888. We are happy to report that all SEIU 888 endorsed candidates, including SEIU 888 member Mike Brady, were elected to office. The following is a recap of how things turned out after the votes were counted.

President/Vice President:
The Obama/Biden ticket sailed to victory with 349 electoral votes.

United States Senate:
John Kerry won another 6 year term in the Senate (fyi, when President Segat met with John Kerry during his campaign, Senator Kerry promised to work on moving GPO/WEP reforms through the Congress).

State Legislature:
SEIU 888 had 9 endorsed candidates with races. Of the 9 campaigns that were endorsed, SEIU 888 had volunteers on the ground in 5 campaigns through Election Day. SEIU 888 endorsed candidates appear first:

Plymouth County Commissioners:
Both SEIU 888 endorsed candidates Jack Riordan, and Tony O’Brien were elected Plymouth County Commissioner.

Ballot Question 1:
The proposal to eliminate the state income tax was rejected by a resounding 70%-30% margin.
