Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk

August 15, 2008 - August 17, 2008

Regina Capone and Melissa BarronThe event is the "Breast Cancer 3-Day", it's a 3-day, 60 mile walk spread out over August 15, 16, & 17, 2008. All net proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure and National Philanthropic Trust, funding important breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment.

I am walking to honor my niece, Melissa Barron (a former SEIU member, she worked at the Winchester DPW and was a member of our clerical union), who at 30 years old was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. Melissa is currently in week 14 of 16 weeks of chemo, and in June will undergo a double mastectomy. Hopefully, for her it will all be a thing of the past someday soon!
