Representation:

Representational strength is an organized workforce committed to negotiating and enforcing fair and equitable contracts that protect our members and promote quality public service.  Strong representation means building and sustaining meaningful relationships with every member of SEIU 888 by creating healthy chapters, increasing knowledge of our industries, and working to streamline negotiations  through coordinated bargaining and benchmarking model contract language.  Representational strength is achielved when every SEIU 888 member actively participates in the union.

Politics:

As Public employees it is our duty to build and cultivate positive working relationships with our elected leaders, and to hold those leaders accountable for the decisions they make that impact us as working people.  By building solidarity around the core workplace issues that unite us as union members, we seek to ehance the political dialouge in our communities, at the State House, and in Washington.  Our goal is to positively  influenece the political process and promote a public policy that supports working families.  As a union our political strength is reflected in our numbers.  When mobilzed our members are a force to be reckoned with.

Organizing:

Organizing is about building member density in our core industries.  As organized workers, it is our duty to welcome unorganized workers into our ranks.  By growing in number, we also grow our abilty to influence decision makers and build a dedicated workforce that provides high quality public services.  SEIU 888 is actively comitted to organizing in order to create a more just and humane society.

Community:

As a community of workers, the men and women of SEIU 888 are bound by common thread fabricated from the work we do and the issues we face together.  However, this bond reminds us that we are also members of the larger community where we live and raise our families.  As union members we are inextricably linked to the greater community and it is our duty to be active participants in creating healthy, safe neighborhoods.  By giving back to our neighbors, through volunteer opportunities and charitable pursuits we are truly building a more just society.
