Dan Bunting, SEIU 888 Member at the Fitchburg Waste Water Treatment Facility

He and wife Lori have been married and living in Leominster for 30 years. They recently were recognized by the Governor as Foster Parents of the Year for the North Central region of MA. They have 7 children, 5 of whom live at home with them, and of that 5, 2 were recently adopted by them. They also have 3 other foster children. They had their first grandchild in July! Carlene Roberts, Boston Health Commission
Job Title:
Carlene is a health inspector for the
environmental health office of the Boston Health Commission.
Job
Description:
Carlene monitors the indoor air quality of public and
private buildings and homes. Additionally, she tests these locations,
if necessary, for asbestos and mold. If a hazard is present, she writes
up a violation for the building/home owner and gives them a time period
in which to fix the problem. She also inspects Boston Public Schools to
make sure they are environmentally safe, testing for hazards such as
poor indoor air quality (too much carbon monoxide for instance) that
will negatively affect the health of the students and staff.
Carlene must
also respond to emergency calls. For instance, recently a company
pumped oil into the basement of a home that had switched to using
natural gas. She had to go to the scene and test the air quality for
harmful fumes to make sure the house was still safe to inhabit again.
Including the above, she also educates people on asthma and how to live
in an environment that will be safe and healthy for people with asthma.
