“Just Cause” Standard Helps Reinstate Billerica Town Hall Member

A Local 888 member in Billerica recently won his job back after the union fought for his reinstatement.  The town accused the member of habitually leaving work early and terminated him.  He filed a grievance because he believed he was terminated without just cause. The town forced the grievance to arbitration.  The union argued that he should be returned to work because there was no history of progressive discipline and no attempt at counseling.
