Endorsed Candidates 2014 State Election Cycle

Since May of this year Local 888's Committee on Political Action has been meeting monthly to review candidates for Endorsement in the 2014 election cycle.  Members of the committee have completed their research and we are proud to announce our second round of legislative and statewide endorsements.

Round 1 Endorsements:

Warren Tolman for Attorney General

District: State Wide • Website: //www.warrentolman.org/ Note:  Warren Tolman has a long and proven record as an advocate for labor in the State Senate, we know he will take that experience to the AG's office:

Mike Day for State Representative

District: 31st Middlesex, Stoneham and Winchester • Website: //electmikeday.com/ Note: Mike Day is a progressive voice in Stoneham and a local attorney.  He is running to replace Jason Lewis who was elected to the State Senate this spring.

Ivette Hernandez for State Representative

District: 10th Hampden • Website: https://www.facebook.com/ElectIvette Note: Ivette is one of SEIU's own. A 509 member and a former Member Political Organizer. She is rock solid on issues concerning working people and has strong progressive values.

Michelle Dubois for State Representative

District: 10th Plymouth • Website: //www.electmichelledubois.com/ Note: Local 888 loves Brockton. We are happy to see such a great candidate for State Rep come out of the Brockton City Council. She is progressive and was active in the Raise Up Massachusetts campaign to increase the minimum wage and provide earned sick time.  Also, Michelle is a former 888 member from the Brockton Library

State Representative Aaron Vega

State Representative Mary Keefe

District: 15th Worcester • Website: Note: Mary was elected in 2012, She is a progressive and she is going to have a tough re-election fight.

State Senator Jason Lewis

District: 5th Middlesex • Website: www.electjasonlewis.com Note: Jason was a advocate for our custodians in the Malden privatization fight. He has also been out front on many issues that concern our members like raising the minimum wage and expanding collective bargaining rights.

Barbara L'Italian for State Senate

District: 2nd Essex & Middlesex • Website: //teambarbara.com/ Note: Barbara has a proven record of standing up for working people. She served in the State House for several years prior to 2010.

Matt Patrick for State Senate

District: Plymouth & Barnstable • Website: //www.electmattpatrick.org/ Note: Matt Patrick is a former state Rep from Falmouth.  He is running to replace retiring Senate President Therese Murray.
