Bread and Roses Heritage Festival

Monday, Sep 3, on Campagnone Common, 200 Common St, Lawrence. Lawrence's history and culture will come alive when the annual Bread and Roses Heritage Festival dominates the Campagnone Common. The Labor Day event commemorates the famous Bread and Roses strike of January 1912, when a reduction in pay caused thousands of Lawrence mill workers to go on strike. Labor unions always send representatives to this festival, which began in 1985 and has grown considerably to become one of the major Labor Day observances in New England.
