The Boston Police Department (BPD) dispatch unit located at BPD headquarters recently negotiated the best wage increase in Local 888 history. These historic increases were 16.5% to 32.5% setting unprecedented gains for the hard workers that intake emergency calls for the entire City of Boston. β€œIt was a grueling process, but these workers were due a pay adjustment for the things they hear and see while dispatching on emergencies. These emergencies include murders, shootings, stabbings, all types of traumas, directing callers in resuscitation, sexual assaults, domestic violence, and kidnappings. For what these workers deal with – I vowed to secure them a decent pay increase,” said President Tom McKeever.
