Contract Update (as of April 2, 2012):
Pending the Governor‘s signature, Local 888 members at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell paraprofessionals will receive their negotiated raises. For example:
- On July 1, 2012, members employed on or before April 1, 2012 would have their salary increased by an amount equal to one and three quarter percent (1.75%).
- Those who are employed on or before July 1, 2012, will see their salary increased by an amount equal to three quarters of one percent (.75%) on the first pay period of January 2013.
- There also shall be established a pool equal to one percent (1.0%) of the salaries of all unit members on the payroll as of December 30, 2012. Within 60 days of the ratification of the agreement the parties will establish a process for distribution of the Merit pool.
- On July 7, 2013, the salary rate of each employee employed on or before April 1, 2013 shall be increased by an amount equal to one and three-quarter percent (1.75%).
- On the first pay period of January 2014, the salary rate of each employee employed on or before July 1, 2013 shall be increased by an amount equal to one and one quarter percent (1.25%).
- In additional to the January 2014 increase above there shall be established a pool equal to one half of one percent (0.5%) of the salaries of all unit members on the payroll as December 30, 2013. Within 60 days of the ratification of the agreement the parties will establish a process for distribution of the Merit pool.
This means that UMASS Lowell members will receive a total raise of 7.5% over the next two years.
