Secretaries at the Oxford school system unanimously approved their first contract with the Oxford Public Schools on May 14th.  “This was a very good contract for us,” said Chapter Chair Valerie Daoust. Members received a 2.5% increase retroactive to July 1, 2011 and a new wage step of $1.90/hr. for members with 13 years of seniority.  Members approved a wage-reopener that provides raises of 1.5% for FY’ 13 and FY’14 on June 19th.

“We could never have won these pay increases, or negotiated a comprehensive Collective Bargaining Agreement that protects our members, without the power of the Union,” said Daoust.  “We clearly accomplished more working together than we could have on our own.”

At their first chapter meeting, members elected Valerie Daoust, Chapter Chair and Steward; Sue Grenier, Vice Chair and Deb Tremblay, Secretary/Treasurer.
